In the May 2025 issue of ISMR, we report on the global effects of U.S. President Trump’s trade tariffs on manufacturers. These have triggered uncertainty in markets worldwide, raising costs and straining supply chains. Europe, China and other economies are having to adjust to this new reality and consider their own responses.
With continuous advances in robotics technology, the industrial robotics market is poised for exponential growth. The widespread adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and Industry-4.0 technologies will further propel the industry – see our article on page 20. AI was also a central theme of TRUMPF’s recent INTECH exhibition. ISMR attended the event in Ditzingen, Germany, where the sheet metal specialist highlighted its continuing use of AI and introduced a range of new machines, solutions and services (see page 28 of this issue).
Growth patterns, technology innovations, trends, forecasts and challenges in global aerospace markets come under the spotlight for manufacturers on page 34 of this issue. We highlight best practice tips, guidelines and processes for manufacturers running plasma cutting operations on page 38. You can also read our preview of the forthcoming Subcon exhibition in the UK on page 40.
Uncover the latest research and development, funding opportunities and collaborative projects in our Research News section (page 18). This issue’s regional report, on page 44, focuses on economic forecasts as well as manufacturing activity and market prospects in Poland. We also highlight a selection of the latest waterjet cutting systems, technologies and innovations (in alphabetical order) for manufacturers. CAD/CAM and stamping are also covered in this issue.
