Italian sheet metal trade show, LAMIERA, has been re-scheduled to 26-29 May 2021 at the fieramilano Rho exhibition centre in Milan, Italy. For the biennial trade show dedicated to machine tools and technologies for sheet metal forming and processing, this means a “return to its roots” as the exhibition has always been held in May.

“The choice of bringing forward the event,” stated Massimo Carboniero, President of UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE (the Italian machine tool, robot and automation systems manufacturers' association) “as we have widely communicated, arose from the need to offer maximum visibility opportunities to exhibiting companies, especially Italian ones, who can now take part in LAMIERA next May and EMO MILANO 2021 in October next year (the global metalworking exhibition, alternately hosted in Hanover and Milan).

“Data processed by the Economic Studies Department & Business Culture of UCIMU, based on a survey by Oxford Economics,” he added, “highlight that, after the slowdown in 2020, investment in new production technologies should rise again in 2021. The demand for new machine tools in Italy is expected to grow by 31.5% versus 2020, exceeding 3.5 billion euros. Even Europe should be more dynamic, increasing consumption by 19.5% to nearly 18 billion euros. Asia, with China at the fore, should bring new impetus, registering a 35.3% demand in growth (34 billion euros), and so should America, which is expected to invest 11 billion euros in new production systems i.e. 31% more than in 2020.”

Promoted by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, and organised by CEU-CENTRO ESPOSIZIONI UCIMU, LAMIERA 2021 will offer dedicated Innovation Areas around the metal forming machines and technologies displayed. These include Robot Planet (centred upon industrial robots, integrators and machine-tending systems); Fabbricafutura (dedicated to software and technologies for connectivity and data management); Box Consulting (a space for consultants and trainers); Saldatech (focused on the welding sector); Fastener Industry (dedicated to screws, bolts, fastening and clamping systems) and EcoCoatech (processes for sheet metal painting and coating). Conferences around specific topics with opinion leaders and experts, as well as presentations of innovative technologies by exhibitors, will also be a feature of the show.

The 2019 edition of LAMIERA registered a significant rise of 11% in the number of visitors, which reached 26,197. It attracted 518 exhibitors (6% more than in 2017) and grew its exhibition area by 25% to 50,000 sq. m.

To incentivise companies to also take part in EMO MILANO 2021, which is back in Italy again after six years, there will be a special “LAMIERA-EMO MILANO 2021 Ticket”: a formula offering a discount on participation in LAMIERA (for those who had already sent in applications to exhibit at EMO MILANO 2021 by 17 March 2021) – see www.lamiera.net for details.
