A strong focus

In the November 2024 issue of ISMR, Matthias Huber, CEO, RAS Reinhardt Maschinenbau GmbH, outlines his strategic and technical focus to ISMR along with his views on sheet metal market trends and new RAS technology launches to support metal folding operations.

RAS Reinhardt Maschinenbau GmbH is a leading manufacturer of machines for sheet metal processing. Headquartered in Sindelfingen, Germany, the company has been in business for over 85 years.

Its extensive portfolio includes folding machines, swing beam shears and forming machines as well as automated and customised manufacturing solutions for various industries worldwide.

In 2022, RAS launched the MEGAbend folder for UpDown bending of thick materials. It expanded its successful relationship with Euclid Labs in 2023 by joining it as a shareholder. This October, it launched the MiniBendCenter 2 (with automatic loading and unloading—sorted and unsorted) at the EuroBLECH trade fair in Germany. Other product launches at EuroBLECH included new Tool Support for its XLTbend folder and a new sheet metal lifting system (MetalLift) for heavy parts on its MEGAbend folder.

ISMR: What are your views on the current global business climate for sheet metal professionals? What about in 2025?

MH: There have been very high, above-average growth rates in recent years, especially in the USA and Canada. The European market is recovering hesitantly. We assume that this situation will be resolved over the course of 2025.

The EuroBLECH trade fair in Hanover this October was a great success for us. There were many discussions about future projects in the medium term and high demand for investment.

ISMR: Please outline any recent successes and achievements?

MH: RAS Reinhardt Maschinenbau is celebrating its 85th anniversary this year. This milestone reflects the company’s many years of experience and market leadership in sheet metal processing. A new subsidiary recently opened in France, further strengthening our international presence and optimising access to European customers.

Notably, recent innovations in automation stand out. It is now possible to retrofit our Multibend-Center with automation solutions, and the new MiniBendCenter 2 offers increased efficiency for bending small parts. Ergonomics and cost-efficiency have also been further improved: our XLTbend folder features a practical Tool Support, and our MEGAbend system has been enhanced with a MetalLift which increases  productivity and user-friendliness.

ISMR: Please explain your strategic and technical focus/vision over the next few years?
