Funding for hydrogen materials research

Cranfield University in the UK has been awarded over £0.5 million for a range of manufacturing projects, including three initiatives focused on how materials respond to hydrogen, which could help accelerate the adoption of hydrogen-fuelled engines and assist industries with reaching net zero carbon emissions.

First 'Made in Germany' MINI

The new, fully electric MINI model generation continues to grow. In 2023, production of the new MINI Countryman will begin at the BMW Group plant in Leipzig, Germany. The crossover model will be offered with both pure electric drive and combustion engines. Preparations for the start of production of the first MINI "Made in Germany" are already in full swing.

First flight of hydrogen regional airliner

Universal Hydrogen Co. flew a 40-passenger regional airliner using hydrogen fuel cell propulsion on 3 March 2023. The aeroplane, nicknamed Lightning McClean, took off at 8:41am PST from Grant County International Airport (KMWH), USA, and flew for 15 minutes, reaching an altitude of 3,500 MSL.
